El autocontrol, decía Platón, era como la valentía. Solo se puede demostrar cuando hay peligro. Un hombre solo podía mostrar su autocontrol cuando había bebido mucho. La valentía se podía aprender. Un hombre que pasaba sus días peleando batallas podía entrenar su valentía. Un hombre que pasaba sus tardes emborrachándose podía entrenarse y alcanzar niveles más altos de autocontrol.
Mi opinión
¿Cómo están Navegadores? Es cierto que de vez en cuando para descansar de una semana agotadora tomamos una cervecita con los amigos. Hay veces que tomamos porque asistimos a un cumpleaños, una celebración como puede ser un matrimonio, Fiestas Patrias, Navidad, o Año Nuevo. El hecho de beber lo atribuimos principalmente al relajarse y festejar, a menos que tu profesión sea estrechamente relacionada al tema, hay pocos que viven la cultura del alcohol de manera más formal.
Una breve historia de la borrachera habla del alcohol y su importancia en las sociedades, partiendo del reino animal. El gusto del alcohol se nos muestra desde antes de que las personas empezaran a asentarse en lugares y hacer surgir la agricultura, de hecho, el autor nos muestra cómo el único motivo para quedarse en un lugar era el alcohol, porque comida iban a encontrar en cualquier parte. Pensándolo de esa forma hace mucho sentido, puesto que la tierra no estaba tan explotada como hoy en día.
Mark Forsyth se las arregla para contarnos un poco de historia del alcohol sin que caigamos dormidos de aburrimiento, de hecho, su prosa gusta de ser cómica y amena, a la vez que argumentada y sorprendente. Nos asombra en cada página cómo habían personas que a través del alcohol se conectaban con los dioses, cómo era un medio sagrado para algunas personas, cómo en otros lugares se les castigaba por pasarse de un par de copas, y cómo en algunos tenían una jerarquía en base a quién poseía el mejor vino y hectáreas para producirlo.
Al final, y también lo dice el autor, cada persona vive de forma diferente su relación con el alcohol según lo que quiera experimentar, gran parte de ello tiene culpa la cultura más cercana que tenemos. Me gusta la idea de Platón de ver las bebidas alcohólicas como un medio para fortalecerte, y cómo son tomadas en serio y no a la ligera. A mi me gusta beber bastante, últimamente cerveza, pero por más que tome hay cosas que uno nunca llega a revelar, y no creo que sea por ser un gran filosofo como se alude en el libro, sino porque simplemente siempre se conserva la sensatez, y el alcohol es solo una escusa.

Every code I try either leaves a huge space on top of the page, or at the bottom of the web page. Its definitely that code triggering it. I’ve tried numerous codes trying to hide the blog sites & extensive network, yet they all leave a white void either at the top or at the bottom.
